CURRENT PRIORITIES

Our top current priorities include:   running programs that enhance a sense of community in Oakton; improving Oakton Community Park, including adding features that encourage use of the park and establishing school and community programs at the historical Oakton Schoolhouse there; extending the sidewalk on Hunter Mill Road that leads to the park; ensuring that development of the AT&T site at the junction of Rt 123 and Jermantown Road is appropriate for the character of our community;  supporting efforts to enhance pedestrian safety on Blake Lane; and supporting efforts to beautify and maintain the roundabout on Hunter Mill Road.  Other priorities will be determined by the community at GOCA’s semi-annual community meetings held at the Oakton Library or other appropriate locations in the years ahead. To support these efforts, GOCA is soliciting funds from the community. GOCA is a 501(c)3 organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. Please contact us if you are able to assist.there

MAINTENANCE OF THE ROUNDABOUT,  EXTENDING THE  SIDEWALKS LEADING TO THE PARK AND LIBRARY ALONG HUNTER MILL ROAD, AND INSTALLING OAKTON SIGNAGE

IMPROVING OAKTON COMMUNITY PARK

FUNDRAISING
(PLEASE SUPPORT US!)

VDOT and the County currently have no provisions for maintaining the roundabout on Hunter Mill Rd, leaving it to neighbors.  Funding is required to extend sidewalks to the park, library, and shopping.  Oakton currently lacks signage indicating its location. A local resident this past year funded landscaping of the roundabout, but would appreciate gofundme donations to assist in its maintenance. GOCA is working with our representatives to find solutions to the sidewalk and sign issues.

GOCA continues to work with the Park Authority to improve the woods, establish a meadow, and bring improvements to the historic schoolhouse that will allow it to serve as a place of community gathering as it once did  from its opening in 1897 through the end of its service as a public venue in 1912.
well as ways to enhance the park for Community enjoyment.

GOCA is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, and our efforts require the support of the community. All donations are tax-deductible.  Can you help? Please get in touch with us at contact@greateroakton.com for details.
