Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We try not to fill your inbox too often, but these two upcoming matters need your attention!

In-person community meeting with EYA, proposed developer of AT&T site, at Oakton High School – Monday, October 2nd at 7pm

EYA will be reporting on the modifications to its original proposal for developing the AT&T site in response to community input. Participation at this event is critical to show EYA and Fairfax County government officials the import of this development to our community and we encourage you to sign up at this link to attend.

Participate in the survey to determine whether the extension of Hunter Mill sidewalk should be funded – Now until October 16th!

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) just launched a survey about the projects it is considering for funding. The original project list was narrowed down from over 2,000 projects to just 317, and the GOCA-supported proposed extension of the sidewalk from south of Marbury Road to Samaga Drive is included among the semi-finalists. This is great news, but to make it past the finish line we need you to answer YES on the survey for Question #34 (Providence District/Map ID 470). For this survey, you only need to answer Question #34, unless you have interest in other projects in the Providence District. Comments at the bottom of the form would also be helpful. The survey runs until October 16th . In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about the process, consider attending one of two virtual community meetings on October 3rd and 5th at which FCDOT will present its methodology and the criteria used to select projects for consideration. More information on the meetings can be found here.

Thank you in advance for the attention,

The GOCA Board
